Children are very curious to learn and feel new things. They want to explore the things around them. They want to know, how things move. This curiosity compels them to try out new things. This is part of their natural development. It's important for children to experience their surroundings and learn as much as they can. Their level of exposure will determine their way of learning. Instead of letting them learn things naturally, if we encourage them to learn things from virtual world then this may impact them in an adverse manner. It may hamper them in lot of ways. Their way of thinking, their overall approach, their emotions and feelings and above all their ability to relate with practical things may go for a toss.

The children of current era are getting overdose of digital technologies from an early age. They pick things from TV, video games and Internet. Nothing wrong about it though, but to remain associated with real world makes us more pragmatic and prudent.

This post will give us a fair idea about the advantage and potential risk or threat the children of present times are likely to face in their future life. The impact of digital technology cannot be completely negative, but certain grey areas are there which needs our immediate attention. This post will draw our attention and give us more insight into this topic.

If we say, the impact of digital technology can make a child socially awkward, shy and even introvert or withdrawn then you may be in two minds, whether to accept this statement as true or not. If you go on a fact finding mission in regards to this topic then you may be subjected to certain cold hard facts difficult to swallow.

Children growing in this era of digital technology are likely to be more mechanical.They may not be totally devoid of any emotions, but their social skills may take a blow. Technology can adversely impact their mental and physical health. Their overall ability to focus may be affected due to over exposure of technology. Risk elements are quite a few worth looking into, as far as this topic is concerned. Technology could be hazardous to children in more ways than one.

Does it mean we should stop the children from accessing digital technology? Digital technology offers a platform to learn new things, harnesses skills, makes them more creative and can extract information in a beneficial way. They are more equipped to use technology, as they understand it better. Digital literacy is important from a kids perspective, surely it is not about being able to take a selfie or record a video. It has got major connotations like being able to use software, write blogs , coding so on & so forth. A digitally literate child draws plenty of benefits and can showcase his talent accordingly.

This post is not an attempt to disregard digital technology. It is relevant in the current context and children being the future, must be familiar with it. The idea behind publishing this article is to promote healthy use and avoid harmful affect of digital technology. Children may get affected by violent and illegal content so there is a need to keep a close watch on them. Appropriate use of digital technology backed by proper guidance will always help the children to access the right digital stuffs. Technology can lead to mental, physical and emotional problems. The child may experience turmoil in his or her life due to over use of technology. Such unwarranted & unsolicited situation does not augur well for the future of the children. No point passing on the buck to digital technology, if we fail to take the right measures in the interest of our children.

In general, it is fairly productive, but a child may not be aware and mature enough to stay away from things that could potentially lead to an unwanted situation, this is where the guardians must ask their children to restrain from accessing things that can have a negative bearing. Stress, trauma and mental disturbance will take it's toll on the children so this must be given due consideration by the guardian especially if digital technology seems to be the cause for it.

Technology is there to assist us and the same goes true for a child. It is there to reduce the burden and create an environment where learning will be one of the major objectives. Children raised in an era of digital technology gets exposure, but exposure could be beneficial and in some cases may have a shocking element.

The children must be encouraged to express themselves and must be given enough opportunities to learn things from their surroundings as well. It has to be a mixed bag of things. The right blend of exposure pertaining to digital technology and practical world will make the children more realistic and grounded, enabling them to build a secure and healthy future for themselves.

The children growing under the current scenario will turn out to be as normal as the children of the past, but little bit of surveillance or monitoring will not harm them either.The children belonging to this era of digital technology will not differ much, if we can inculcate the right culture and enable them to make optimum use of technology in a productive way. They are rather likely to be more advanced technically. Guardian needs to step in and take charge at times, in order to protect the interest of their children by offering the right guidance.
