Media technology means any hardware, software or any other tools used for creating, composing, delivering and managing media. It includes images, video games, interactive media, audio & videos, augmented reality, dynamic content, mixed reality, new media etc.

Has media technology impacted our society? People may have divergent views. You may support or oppose it. You may feel that media technology has transformed the society and made people more advanced in their way of doing things or you may think, it has uprooted us from our culture and traditions. Difficult to assess this situation and give a pinpoint accurate answer, but can we do away with it ? We need to progress and develop our systems in every sphere of life so how can we stop media from introducing technologies that can lead to it's growth and creates opening for creative work.

Media technology will make media more sophisticated which is generally good from viewers point of view, but may harm a certain type of audience. In this regard people have certain reservations . Technology, human behavior & society are interconnected. They influence each other. They are related to each other very strongly. When we talk about information society, then we are essentially highlighting a society where people are aware of the information they require, how to obtain it & use the same. Media technology does help us creating such an information society. People's way of communication, business's & even life style undergoes plenty of changes in such a society . This has been made possible by media technology to a great degree. Tradition, values, language and even culture may get affected. So there is a risk element involved, when we think about introducing media technology. New media technologies leads to the emergence of a new society. With new innovations and technological adaptations, we see a different environment in the society which will have both merits and demerits.

Internet, digital broadcasting,telecommunications & interactive television will of course benefit the viewers. The get better exposure and proper information more easily so obviously pluses are there. People are more aware & awake. Well informed society is always more healthy. Society drives technological changes and changing technology shape the society on a larger scale. So we cannot deny media technology it's rightful place. It will be a blunder on our part, if we fail to appreciate the role of media technology in shaping a vibrant and well structured society. Having said that, we need to also comprehend it has certain flaws. It can mislead us and may harm the society. A kid playing video games may struggle to gain physical fitness by avoiding outdoor games. In the same fashion, watching violence on TV can change the behavior of teenagers and make them more aggressive.

Let's be very clear about certain things. Technology creates media, media influences people and people makes the society, either a better place to live in or make it a worst place. Information society also leads to widespread exploitation or manipulation of various sources of information. Things can be twisted & turned to either benefit or harm the people and society as a whole. For instance, while watching something which is explosive on an electronic media , viewers discretion is advised. Kids or students may not be allowed to access stuffs that may potentially harm them or misguide them.

We can reduce the negative impact of media technology on the society by keeping a tab on the things being viewed, especially by viewers of impressionable age. We must encourage them to watch inspiring and informative stuffs. Intervention and guidance are the two tools to negate the adverse impact of technology media.

Technology media is bound to impact the society . It's overall impact may be construed as positive, but no denying from the fact, that it has certain grey areas. It may misguide a certain section . In this age of development, a sophisticated and modern media technology is a necessity . We can't undermine this fact. We can summarize this topic by saying,  that modern media technology augurs well for the future of our society, but due caution must be exercised in some areas,  capable of affecting the society negatively.
