Initially, it was mainly used for voice calls as well as for sending & receiving text messages. Undoubtedly, technical advancements have ensured that things can be done more conveniently. Life has been made easier due to technical advancements.

The present-day mobile phone offers various specifications and are used for the purposes of making a voice call, multimedia, video calls, SMS, video games, photography, email as well as Internet browsing.

Mobile phone comes in various size, shapes & prices. Since the present-day mobile phone helps us in various ways, offering great features therefore, it is called as smartphones. Time Wasting 

People are getting hooked onto mobiles. It's a common sight everywhere. Certain people have a tendency to repeatedly peeping into their mobile phones after a regular interval of time, even if they have not received any messages. People tend to play games keeping aside important assignments, thinking that it won't consume much time. Our production time is becoming unproductive to some extent due to the overuse of mobile phones.

Students usually tend to fall into the trap of using mobile phones every now & then & in the process gets deviated from studies. Some of them are highly addicted to smartphones. They are given smartphones by the guardian because it helps them in their studies. Barring a small proportion of students, most of them have a habit of using mobile phones for reason best known to them, as it does not make sense to overuse smartphones, as it eventually impacts their studies adversely.

Making Virtual & Artificial World

Our social life has taken a backseat since the advent of smartphones. People prefer to chat rather than meet up & discuss their life or enquire about each other's well being. Living in a virtual & artificial world never gives us a true sense of security & satisfaction. However, we are so very used to smartphones that we would rather send a text message or at the most make a video call rather than meeting people physically. This trend can lead to social isolation, having plenty of negative bearings that will be experienced by a large section of people in the long run.

Privacy issues

Every individual expects that his privacy will be respected, but social media literally exposes every aspect of an individual's life. Even if you are not keen to make people privacy to certain information still it gets exposed, thanks to social media. You just need to browse through the social media account of an individual and you will get all the relevant information about that person starting from his place of work, his social status, about his friends & relatives, his occupation as well as hobbies & interest. Nothing seems to remain in hidden mode. You got to access a smartphone connected with an internet connection & within a fraction of a second you would be able to gauge a person & stalk people in social media. So plenty of ill effects of smartphones can be traced and are being experienced by the users. People don't feel secure at times, because their life has become an open book to a great degree & people can easily read the same book by means of a smartphone.

Money Issues

For some buying expensive smartphones & using the same is a status symbol while few are of the opinion that holding an expensive smartphone makes them look cool. A certain section feels, to be able to procure the latest version of smartphones makes them updated therefore, they tend to ignore the cost factor. There is a general tendency to buy costly smartphones after a regular period of time. Is it not a wastage of money? Can't we spend the same money on our education or for that in buying quality books? Maybe we can use the same money on some other useful things rather than buying expensive smartphones every now & then.
