Does Google Photos Add an Info Section for Images Edited by Generative AI?
Google Photos will soon have the capacity to let you know whether an image has been altered. Isn't it intriguing? Artificial Intelligence ( AI) is spreading its wings very fast. Such widespread use of AI in general is beneficial, but it can be used to alter an image. This will perhaps not be perceived as very useful by some, Therefore, they would like to know whether an image has been tampered with or altered by using some AI tools like Magic Eraser.

With so much advancement especially due to the advent of AI-powered tools, it may not be that easy to figure out whether a photo has been generated or edited using technology. This has forced most companies to add synthetic watermarks or labels to AI-generated images. Google has also decided to join this bandwagon.
Google Photos: Add A New Feature to find Images Edited by AI Tools
Google has made an announcement In a blog post recently that the Google Photos app will soon be equipped with the capacity to show whether a photo has been edited using AI tools. John Fisher who is the Engineering Director of Google Photos since photos edited by Magic Eraser, Magic Editor, and Zoom Enhance already include metadata based on technical standards from The International Press Telecommunications Council ( IPTC) to indicate that they have been edited using generative AI.
It must be brought to the notice of our readers that the Google Photos app will show this information alongside other file information like name, location as well as backup status in the Google Photo apps. All of these are available in a new section known as "AI Info" in the image details view of Google Photos in the app as well as on the web.
