Earlier this month, reverse engineer Aaron Perris, who goes by the handle @aaronp613 on X (formerly Twitter), said that he came across some references in the iOS version of the app’s code that suggested a downvote feature being developed. Now, the tipster seems to have found additional images in the app’s code that indicate that the upcoming downvote button will appear as a broken heart, resembling YouTube Short’s dislike button.

In an image shared, Perris displays that when the users decide to click the downvote button, a text string says "Do you want to downvote this post"? Now we have to also consider another thing out here The question has the word post so probably this functionality may work in regards to posts and not replies. This functionality may be confined/limited to posts only and not replies.

There is another aspect to this. In fact, another X user who goes by the handle @P4mui shared a video of the dislike button, which was managed to enable using a feature flag, this goes on to indicate that the feature may be limited to replies for the time being. In fact, recently, X has announced that it is going to make likes private for everyone and make its live streaming feature exclusive to its Premium subscribers.
