Superintelligent Machines Will Be Good Enough to Outsmart Humans

If in the near future we get subjected to a situation where our existence or identity comes under threat, then perhaps it won't augur well for us. If we have a challenger that is machinery or technical in nature, and we are responsible for the advent of such a super-intelligent machine capable of outsmarting humans, then perhaps we will be remorseful, regretful, or lament our invention the most. You may think that this is a hypothetical scenario. Such a machine will never become a reality. It is next to impossible to realize such a super intelligent machine, then you are looking at a situation which is probably 50%  possible and 50%  impossible.

So we can't speculate on it with certainty. The most pertinent question worth answering is whether we can see the rise of such a machine that can take over and outsmart humans? Super intelligent machines will have the potential to outsmart humans by mimicking human behavioural intelligence, comprehending the feelings as well experience of humans.

Whether it be self-driving cars or developing a sound system for medical diagnosis, we will see the intervention of ASI and will eventually take over humans in some other fields.

These machines pose a serious threat. Maybe initially, we may have felt that the threat factor is mediocre, but in reality, it is far more serious. We may pretend that it is not possible for a machine to take on human intelligence and start dictating terms and conditions, but we are staring at a menacing situation. The possibility of super-intelligent machines harming humans is no longer science fiction. It appears to be plausible. This cannot be spoken in clear-cut terms, as no time period can be given in a crystal clear manner. It could be the next decade or may end up taking a few more decades, but a major threat perception is looming. Narrow superintelligence, General superintelligence, and Super Intelligent Autonomous Systems are the three major types of superintelligent AI.

Such machines can lead to job cuts or job displacement, safety and security issues will likely be experienced, and the biggest concern will be an existential threat. So these are all matters of concern, and eventually we may see that superintelligent machines may take over our lives.

The level of domination will not be confined to any particular geographical area as such. Rather, the whole world will come under its influence and grip. We must foster international cooperation and establish a regulatory framework. Such machines may be beneficial in certain ways, but they may be equally dangerous. It is going to be a double-edged sword. The risk element is strong enough, so we must have a backup plan to handle things before it gets out of hand.
