NASA has made it clear that Shubhanshu Shukla, a group captain in the Indian Air Force (IAF), has been chosen to fly Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4). This is even more special since he happens to be the first Indian astronaut to reach the International Space Station (ISS) on a private mission. This is going to open more avenues. The Axiom 4 mission Involves Astronauts from India, Poland, Hungary, and the United States

This mission will be a huge leap for the Indian space exploration program. A lot depends on the success of this mission for India. The Axiom Mission 4 (Ax-4) has been successfully launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, carrying Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station (ISS). The success of this mission will establish the potential India possesses in spaceflight. It will boost India's capacity and aspirations to be a global leader in space exploration.

The key objective of this mission is to conduct scientific research as well as outreach activities in low Earth Orbit.  Ax-4 mission happens to be a joint effort by NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX. The mission will involve approximately 60 experiments and outreach activities involving 31 countries, including India and the US.

The Ax-4 Crew Consists of Four Astronauts

Commander Peggy Whitson is a veteran NASA astronaut, followed by Pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, who is an Indian Air Force pilot and ISRO astronaut. Next crew member is Mission Specialist Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski, who is a Polish engineer and project astronaut with the European Space Agency. Mission Specialist Tibor Kapu, who is a  Hungarian researcher, is also part of this mission.
