Artificial Sun and Artificial Moon of China: What purpose will it Serve?

Human beings are by far the most advanced creatures on Earth. The human race is very curious to quench its thrust of experimenting with various things, especially in respect of domains meant for technological inventions.

This urge has been instrumental in pushing us to extreme limits. It has almost taken us to the edges of the universe and deep into the sea. We want to explore as much as possible without leaving any stone unturned. Human beings find possibilities in everything. This nature at times has forced us to do experiments that appeared next to impossible perhaps a decade ago.

If you are told that now we are moving towards an era of science & technology that will provide us the expertise of making artificial celestial bodies then you may disregard & dismiss such a statement as mere wild imagination. Hold on, it has already happened. When & where? This post is going to update you more on these questions. Stay tuned in.

Artificial Sun

China's artificial Sun fusion reactor is a massive project likely to cost $1 trillion. This experimental fusion reactor is an attempt to obtain unlimited clean energy. Surely, it's a big leap for us. This artificial Sun has established a new world record by successfully superheating a loop of plasma to temperatures five times hotter than the Sun and this process went on for 17 minutes which is not a mean feat by any stretch of the imagination. This has added another feather to the cap of modern-day scientists.

"The recent operation lays a solid scientific & experimental foundation towards the running of a fusion reactor", experiment leader  Gong Xianzu, a researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said in a statement.

The Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak ( EAST) reactor is an attempt to replicate the process of nuclear fusion which powers the Sun. In order to achieve this objective, China has made an artificial Sun.

The scientist knows that it is possible to harness the power of nuclear fusion. This breakthrough is a major achievement & a step, towards obtaining unlimited clean energy. This experiment can go a long way in resolving energy-related problems for mankind. This is just the beginning. In fact, International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor ( ITER ) has got an even bigger plan in the pipeline which is being constructed in Marseille, France. This project will comprise 35 Countries. This fusion reactor is going to be even bigger.

Artificial Moon

China has built an artificial moon research facility. It has the unique distinction of first of its kind in the entire World. The idea behind this research facility is to simulate low-gravity conditions by magnetism. You must be wondering, an artificial moon on earth! But why? What purpose will it serve? We have an actual moon that mankind has been exploring for a long time so why do we need an artificial moon on Earth? This facility can create the right conditions for conducting research on Lunar exploration here on Earth. This project is likely to take lunar exploration to a new level altogether, sitting here on Earth.

It is noteworthy, that this research facility has got a vacuum chamber that houses a mini-moon. This mini moon is said to be about 2 feet in diameter. It will use powerful magnetic fields inside this vacuum chamber in order to disappear gravity. This facility will facilitate tests of instruments & technology in a low-gravity environment. The result will guide us for future lunar explorations as well in understanding the possibilities & challenges of settling human colonies on the Moon. This research facility is likely to be launched later this year. This research facility will be filled with dust & rocks so that a similar surface as found on Moon may be recreated.  The scientist got inspired to go for such a project after making a frog float.
