Sometime it discontinues or suspends its products too. It is believed by a lot of people that Google doesn't mind killing its own project. We shall look into various products scrapped by Google during 2023 ( so far ). Of course, Google will not kill projects without having any sound reason. In fact, the reason will be strong enough otherwise Google won't go to the extent of taking such an extreme position regarding such projects. Be it smart clothing tags or cloud gaming, it has been observed that Google has already scrapped some of its products in 2023 till date.

What prompts Google to discontinue its projects? That is not a bad question at all. No company would like to stop its projects until & unless it is in dire straits with such projects. Google is ranked and rated very highly, but some companies would like to dethrone Google from its position. Amazon for instance is a challenger for Google. To maintain its position as one of the top companies, Google needs to review its strategy and alter or discontinue certain projects. Google has a reputation for abruptly stopping a popular product which usually does not go down well with a lot of people. The reason could be financial or some other consideration may force Google to roll back a product, but the users are never thrilled with such a step.

Conclusion
The market is governed by a lot of factors and companies have to abide by the current trend as they face cut throat competition. Whenever any product or service is launched, there is a general consensus in the company that the product will yield the requisite benefits. Sometimes on reviewing the performance, companies are not satisfied with the return on Investment. This usually compels companies to shelve their ambitious project.
Google being a leading company cannot afford to make way for others. To maintain its reputation, it will have to relook at various options and sometimes it has to discontinue its projects if a particular business model is not firing on all cylinders and earning enough profits. We may not blame companies for taking such measures. When a lot of money is pumped into a project then it must be able to generate enough money failing which companies are left with no other option, but to stop the project.
