Usually on installing an app from the Google Play Store, you get an option that enables you to either open or uninstall the app. But that is likely to change soon, as Google is reportedly testing a new feature that will automatically launch the app as soon as it is installed on the device.

If you go by the new report by Android Authority, which performed an APK teardown of Google Play Store v41.4.19, the new feature called 'App Auto Open’ send users a notification that appears as a “banner across the top of the screen” when activated. While the motivation will ring or vibrate the device depending on the device settings, users can always silence it. Also, the flag that enables the feature suggests that the notification will last up to five seconds.

The APK teardown also suggests that the functionality will be enabled by default but can be toggled on or off. The report also suggests that despite enabling the flag, the feature still needs to be fixed. At present, there is no information on if and when App Auto Open will be made available to everyone, but if it comes out, the functionality could prove really useful especially, if you have the tendency of forgetting to launch new apps after you install them.
