India is a force to reckon with in the global arena. She has been making rapid inroads in every field. Agriculture, Industrial & infrastructural development, Real Estate, Science & Technology, Space exploration, you name it & you will find a strong presence and performance of India in every sector.  India is an amazing country. Ancients of India's  Contribution to Science and Technology.

 

In regards to science & technology, the country has been progressing for a substantial period of time. You may be wondering, how did India make so much development in this field. Well, folks there is a slight correction out here. This has been the case in ancient times as well. The history of India is glorifying and her contribution to the World especially in the context of science and technology is not new. Makar Sankranti is celebrated on 14th January. It is celebrated all across the country & this festival is known by various names in different parts of the country. This is the day, the Sun transits into Capricorn and moves into the northern hemisphere. How did the people living in ancient India know about such an astronomical feat? It is strongly believed, that the first cataract surgery was performed by an Indian physician,  Sushruta in the 6th Century BCE. In fact, he wrote a textbook called "Sushruta Samhita" which relates to ancient surgery in 6th BCE. A seamless metal globe was also made in India way back. When it comes to smelting Zinc using the distillation process, once again this feat was achieved first by India.

An ancient scientist of India known as Kanad was the first to devise atomic theory. Bhaskaracharya calculated the time taken by the Earth to travel around the Sun(365.2588 days ). You will be surprised to know while carrying out excavation in Harappans site, rulers made up of ivory & shells have been found as well. The earliest known dock was at Lothal in Gujrat (India). Different systems of Water storage, canals, and agriculture were introduced in ancient India by 3000 BCE.
