Peace or War Both are Associated with the Science & Technology: Russia - Ukraine

In recent times, the world has been experiencing a horrendous situation due to Russia - Ukraine war. Since Ukraine was keen to join NATO, Russia felt threatened by this move, which eventually triggered this war. Over the span of the last few months, this bloody battle has been responsible for the killing of so many people on both sides including military & non-military personnel.

Sophisticated weapons are being used by both sides to suppress and win over each other's territory or protect the boundary. For some people, Russia is the guilty party since it is the aggressor while few people have openly expressed their support for Russia.

Science & Technology are Always Related to the Development & Prosperity of Mankind

More than knowing, who is at a fault we should try to analyze the reason that led to this war so that we can prevent the occurrence of this kind of situation. We don't intend to find & identify who is responsible for this war. Russia, USA or Ukraine we don't wish to judge anyone however, war is a threat and we can I'll afford a war in this era of nuclear power. Russia is a nuclear power which is making things more threatening to the international community. One wrong move on the part of Russia could lead to doomsday for the World. There is a need to intervene and bring an end to this war, but the international community is also divided between U.S. & Russia's camps. Every country has to protect its interest therefore, nobody is keen enough to fully involve itself and find a solution to this ongoing battle. Even an international forum like the UN is not competent enough to take action in this case. The role of the USA is also under scanner. It seems that in the pretext of settling its scores against Russia, it has provoked Ukraine.

At least a section of people strongly believes the US instigated Ukraine and left it midway however, USA and NATO countries have been supplying arms & ammunition to Ukraine. The longer this war stretches the worst it is for mankind. War can't be a solution to any dispute. Mature world leaders must intervene and see to it that this bloody battle is stopped with immediate effect.

Science & Technology is always related to development & prosperity for mankind, but when we look at this situation, we are bound to accept that modern weapons are the invention of science & technology so it's negative impact is also visible. Be it modern missiles, ballistic missiles, weapons of mass destruction or sophisticated and automatic guns, all these have given undue power to mankind to destroy this world.

Yes, weapons are required for protecting the territorial interest and for enforcing law & order. Its importance cannot be totally undermined however, when we talk about atom bombs, nuclear bombs, hydrogen bombs etc we are potentially staring at a situation that can cause havoc to us. These weapons have been manufactured using scientific advancement. For tactical purposes or strategic interests undoubtedly every country needs weapons, but not at the expense of mass-scale destruction. Technology has led to improved tools for warfare, but can't we create a world that will have no space for resolving issues with gun battles. Problems can be resolved through proper channels by means of discussion. Having said that, we must confess that science and technology have given us weapons that can be used to defend and attack enemies. So it's a double-edged sword. Such weapons can eventually prove highly destructive.

Science & technology have provided us a lot. It has made life easier. It has made inroads into the fields of medicine, engineering, biotechnology, space exploration, etc. We must praise science & technology for everything it has given us for upgrading our lifestyle. We are all for it as long as it is benefitting mankind. Again when we see the advent of modern sophisticated arms & ammunition, we don't feel very convinced about the security of our future generation. Judicious use of weapons backed by solid logic is perhaps the need of the hour however, every country is part of this mad race to become superior militarily. We live in a power-hungry world, let's admit it. We sometimes compromise on ethics to climb the ladder of success. This applies to individuals as much as countries.

Science and Technology must be primarily used for inventions capable of having a positive bearing on human societies. Destruction, bloodshed, war, and violence will never take us toward an ideal world. In general science & technologies contribution has been for betterment, but it also produces weapons and other machines used in warfare that eventually will harm us more than helping us.

Conclusion

Science & Technology has given us a lot to speak the truth, but it has also shown us how we can destroy our world, kill people and rule the world. The world needs peace & not war. In the same way, we need development and not destruction. We must draw maximum benefits for humanity by using science & technology. Let's think of a greener, better and more peaceful world devoid of arms and ammunition capable of wiping out human civilization from the face of this world. Let's work in this direction. Let's achieve progress through science and not destruction.
