When we talk about modern-day education then we see a lot of changes happening rapidly. Conventional teaching methods are getting challenged to some degree by such innovative teaching technologies. After the surge of Covid - 19, there is a constant effort made by the authorities all over the world to find means of education where classroom presence of teachers and students, may not be mandatory for smooth conduct of education.

It won't be unfair to say that the outbreak of Covid - 19 acted as a catalyst for a revolution in the education sector. It introduced some major changes in this sector. Yes, you can argue that these were forced changes, but these changes also introduced new means of imparting training/teaching and made us more aware of the need to use technology-backed devices for our current & future education needs. 

This Pandemic situation compelled us to embrace new ways of learning including remote classes & falling back on new innovative learning platforms. We were forced to speed up the adoption of digital learning tools.

At the outset,  both teachers and students were equally circumspect about using digitization for teaching. The students felt a bit uncomfortable attending lectures on online platforms and receiving notes via emails. Gradually they got used to it and their reservation got diminished in this connection. E-learning will be more about integration & sustainable growth instead of just a tool to replace classroom education.

Going by a study conducted by Lynn University in Florida around 80% of students preferred E-books over paper ones. This surely tells a story. It is said, 35% of teachers agreed online learning allows for more personalized instructions.

Investment in Virtual reality is likely to rise by 700 million over the span of the next 5 years. Although much of it will be based on gaming, an increasing number of Virtual reality companies are planning to create education software and education tools. Augmented reality is another booming tech sector, capable of offering a lot in the field of education. You will be surprised to know, that investment in Augmented reality could touch $5 billion by the end of 2022. Augmented reality will enable medical students to perform operations without the presence of real-life patients. Augmented reality supplements the natural environments with digital visuals and sounds thereby creating digital layers of information in our reality.

In the same manner, Robot teachers are used in supporting education initiatives. Artificial intelligence & Machine learning are also used extensively to boost admin-related work of education like taking attendance, making copies, test marking, translating, etc. Another significant tool for education is Chatbots. It can be regarded as a fast and cost-efficient way of communication in education. It generates responses very fast. With this, the response time to queries can be cut from days to seconds. It is beneficial for higher education institutes.

2022 will be a highly exciting year for education. Education will see plenty of new technologies being introduced and will be upgraded to suit the requirements of students. New technologies will create an exciting & interactive learning environment.

Education is the backbone of any society. Educated people can contribute more and add more value. Reforms or transformation in the education system is always welcome. Conventional teaching tools will have a role to play however, it is of immense importance to introduce new technologies in the education sector to make it more informative.
